Explanation For The blessing
Our sages decided to dedicate seven feast days to the bridge and groom. On each of the evenings following the wedding, a festive meal is prepared for at least ten guests, including a new guest at each meal.
The seven blessings are usually recited after Grace [birkat hamazon] has been recited, and wish happiness to the couple, expressing the hope that they will bring children to the world and singing gratitude for the creation of man.
The blessings are also said for Jerusalem as well as for the salvation of humanity. The seven blessings are of great significance and bring much joy to the bride and groom, it is therefore suggested to prepare at least one meal every day, thus allowing the blessings to be pronounced (it is not obligatory). It is a common custom for the blessings to be divided among six rabbis or honored family members and guests, such as grandfathers, uncles, etc. The blessings are of great power and should thus be answered with "Amen". Drinking the wine from the blessed tumbler will bring forth a perfect match (for those still seeking), marital harmony, good health and every salvation.
