Blessing for Livelihood
פרנסה 2 - נראה לי שכדאי לצרף לפני היהי רצון - מזמור קמ"ה מתהילים. יְהִי רָצוֹן מִלְּפָנֶיךָ יְהוָהָ אֱלֹהֵינוּ וֵאלֹהֵי אֲבוֹתֵינוּ, שֶׁיִּהְיוּ מְזוֹנוֹתַי וּפַרְנָסָתִי וּמְזוֹנוֹת וּפַרְנָסַת בְּנֵי בֵיתִי עִם מְזוֹנוֹת וּפַרְנָסַת כָּל עָמְּךָ בֵּית יִשְׂרָאֵל, מֻכְתָּרִים וּמְאֻמָּתִים וּמֻצְדָּקִים בְּיָדְךָ, וְאַל תָצְרִיכֵנִי לִידֵי מַתְנַת בָּשָׂר וָדָם וְלֹא לִידֵי הַלְוָאָתָם, כִּי אִם לְיָדְךָ הַמְּלֵאָה הַפְּתוּחָה, הַקְּדוֹשָׁה וְהַרְחָבָה. וּתְהֵא מְלַאכְתִי וְכֹל עֲסָקַי לִבְרָכָה וְלֹא לַעֲנִיּוּת, לְחַיִּים וְלֹא לְמָוֶת, וּתְזַכֵּנִי שֶׁלֹּא יִתְחַלֵּל שֵׁם שָׁמַיִם עַל יָדִי. וְאֶהְיֶה מִן הַמּוֹעִילִים וּמַשְׁפִּיעִים טוֹב לְכֹל אָדָם תָּמִיד, וּתְמַלֵּא יָדִי מִבִּרְכוֹתֶיךָ וְשַׂבְּעֵנוּ מִטּוּבֶךָ, כְּמוֹ שֶׁעָשִׂיתָ לְיוֹצְאֵי מִצְרַיִם, כִּי אַתָּה יְהוָהָ בֵּרַכְתָּ וּמְבָרֵךְ לְעוֹלָם. עֵינֵי כֹּל אֵלֶיךָ יְשַֹבֵּרוּ, וְאַתָּה נוֹתֵן לָהֶם אֶת אָכְלָם בְּעִתּוֹ, פּוֹתֵחַ אֶת יָדֶךָ, וּמַשְׂבִּיעַ לְכָל חַי רָצוֹן. הַשְׁלֵךְ עַל יְהוָה יְהָבְךָ וְהוּא יְכַלְכְּלֶךָ, לֹא יִתֵּן לְעוֹלָם מוֹט לַצַּדִּיק. וְאַתֶּן נְשָׁמוֹת הַקְּדוֹשׁוֹת וְהַטְּהוֹרוֹת, הַעֲתִירוּ אֶל יְהוָהָ בַּעֲדִי וּבִגְלָלִי, יָרִים קַרְנִי וְיַגְבִּיהַּ מַזָּלִי, לְמַעַן אוּכַל לְעָבְדוֹ בְּלֵבָב שָׁלֵם כָּל יְמֵי עוֹלָם אָמֵן
Explanation For The blessing
Psalm 145, and verse 16 in particular, ensure livelihood: "You open Your hand and satisfy every living thing [with] its desire". This line should be repeated three times a day: twice to feed all human beings throughout the world and once to validate the Creator, whose hands are open, offering us never-ending plenty. The blessing seeks to give power to the Divine Spirit/universe/source of abundance that feeds all.
While uttering the words "You open Your hands", one should raise his/her hands to symbolize the gift of plenty from above.
This blessing should be uttered with great intent and focus on G-d as the protector, feeder and provider, for the powerful words summon livelihood.
"Every living thing" – to all the living: from a lice egg (the smallest living being) to the horns of the oryx (the largest living being), and, of course, humans, who are in between.
It is God who decides on our wealth – we only have to ask and God enacts His will. The secret and the basis for endless plenty, showered upon us every day, is the preparation of our own personal vessel – the larger the vessel, the greater the plenty.
In this blessing we also ask that our livelihood will be honest and blessed. Amen.
