Explanation For The blessing

The chapter begins with "A Psalm of David" and indeed, some words and sentences faithfully reflect various events in King David's life. In verse 2, in the words "Hear me when I call" we find an echo of David's calls to his Lord – calls that may also be read in other psalms, e.g. 20, 63, 130 and others. Moreover, the continuation of the verse – "thou hast enlarged me when I was in distress" – brings to mind "I called upon the Lord in distress: the Lord answered me, and set me in a large place" from Psalm 118, verse 5. When King David is in trouble he calls to the Lord and is "enlarged" (salvaged). As noted by Chazal (Our Sages of Blessed Memory): "David spoke to the Lord: My Lord, upon every trouble I encountered You enlarged me; I was in distress with Bathsheba and You gave me Solomon, I was in trouble with Israel and You bestowed the Temple upon me". In this Psalm David teaches us not to be alarmed, but turn to Our Father, recite this psalm and be redeemed shortly. Amen.
